To continue on with HarryXmasToYou, here are my favorite quotes from my reread of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret’s.
Fred laughed. “Yeah, Dad’s crazy about everything to do with Muggles; our shed’s full of Muggle stuff. He takes it apart, puts spells on it, and puts it back together again. If he raided our house he’d have to put himself under arrest. It drives Mum mad.” Page 31
I just love Mr. Weasley’s passion. It’s so funny.
“Yes, Arthur, cars,” said Mrs. Weasley, her eyes flashing. “Imagine a wizard buying a rusty old car and telling his wife all he wanted to do with it was take it apart to see how it worked, while really he was enchanting it to make it fly.” Page 39
But Harry, grinning widely, said, “This is the best house I’ve ever been in.” Page 41
I love how sincere Harry is in this quote. After years at the Dursley’s anything must be better. But we all know that he genuinely loves Ron’s house and family and it’s so sweet.
“Why,” demanded Ron, seizing her schedule, “have you outlined all Lockhart’s lessons in little hearts?” Page 95
Oh Ron, you’ll understand someday.
“At least no one on the Gryffindor team had to buy their way in,” said Hermione sharply. “They got in on pure talent.” Page 112
Yes Hermione. You tell ’em!
He came around, rain falling on his face, still lying on the field, with someone leaning over him. He saw a glitter of teeth. “Oh, no, not you,” he moaned. “Doesn’t know what he’s saying,” said Lockhart loudly to the anxious crowd of Gryffindors pressing around them. Page 172
I love Harry’s reaction to seeing Lockhart and then Lockhart’s reaction is all “oh he’s in so much pain that he’s imagining me as someone else, the poor boy!” it’s just so funny.
“If anyone wanted ter find out some stuff, all they’d have ter do would be ter follow the spiders. That’d lead ’em right! That’s all I’m sayin’.” Page 264
I feel like this line would make Fudge think of Hagrid as even more crazed and I honestly think it’s hilarious.
The bell rang at that moment, which was lucky; at Malfoy’s last words, Ron had leapt off his stool, and in the scramble to collect bags and books, his attempts to reach Malfoy went unnoticed. “Let me at him,” Ron growled as Harry and Dean hung onto his arms. “I don’t care, I don’t need my wand, I’m going to kill him with my bare hands-” Page 267
There’s such a big difference in how Ron thinks of Hermione from the first book to this one and it’s so cute how protective he is over her now.
I would love more than anything to know how Ginny dealt with all this Chamber of Secrets stuff. Like there’s no way you can just bounce back from this! It would be really interesting to read about her struggles and how she overcame this really terrifying experience.
“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” Page 333
This was my senior quote so obviously I have to include it.
“Got a sock,” said Dobby in disbelief. “Master threw it, and Dobby caught it, and Dobby – Dobby is free.” Page 338
Not going to lie but I almost started crying after reading this scene again.
Two books down, five to go! Loving rereading these books again.
I hope you all had a good day.
